Trust & Transparency

How we verify reviews and keep the platform honest.

How review trust works

Our review system is designed to promote honest feedback from athletes and reduce low-quality or misleading content.

How we support trustworthy reviews

Organisers can invite athletes to share feedback after an event.

Reviewers can add their bib number; when it matches the organiser's official participant list, the review earns the Verified participant badge.

Reviews must follow our community guidelines. Reported content is reviewed by our team and action is taken when rules are broken.

No fake reviews

We don't allow incentivised reviews, paid reviews, or reviews from people who didn't attend the event. If we detect manipulation, we remove the reviews and may suspend the account.

How scores and ratings work

Event ratings on Sporting Scouter are calculated from athlete reviews. No algorithm boost, no pay-to-rank.

Each event is rated across seven categories: Communication, Provisions, Assistance, Merchandise, Fair Play, Sustainability, and Security. The overall score is an average of all individual ratings.

Every score is backed by real reviews you can read. There's no hidden weighting or editorial influence. What athletes say is what you see.

Events need at least one review before a score is displayed. The more reviews an event has, the more reliable its score.

Our commitment to honest feedback

We believe athletes deserve honest information when choosing events. That commitment shapes every decision we make.

  1. 1

    Independence

Organisers cannot pay to remove negative reviews or boost their scores. Paid plans unlock features, not better ratings.

  2. 2

    Equal treatment

Every organiser — free or paying — is subject to the same review standards and community rules.

  3. 3

    Athlete-first

When in doubt, we side with transparency. If a review is honest and follows our guidelines, it stays up.

  4. 4

    Right of reply

Organisers can always respond to reviews publicly. We encourage constructive dialogue between athletes and organisers.

Reporting suspicious content

If you spot a review that seems fake, misleading, or violates our guidelines, you can report it.

Use the report function on any review to flag it for our team. We review every report and take action when needed.

Reported reviews are investigated within 48 hours. If a review violates our guidelines, it's removed. We'll notify you of the outcome if you provided contact details.
